Why Good Current SEO Practices Matter
No matter what the service or product that is being offered by a web-based business, SEO matters. Having the wrong type of optimization can hurt more then having no optimization at all. Relevant topics to the blog or theme of the site along with well placed and intelligently selected keywords can and do make a huge difference in where a site ranks in the search engine listings. Being in the first page of those rankings can make a huge difference in traffic that a site receives.
Take, for example, keywords like US Immigration, US Visa and immigrant. Someone writing about green cards, or the history of immigration can use these keywords and make then flow naturally. When well done, the newest SEO filters should rank such a site fairly high, as the keywords and the content match what someone might be looking for when they use them in a search.
On the revers of this, are the misuse of such keywords, where they don’t fit the topic at all. If someone has a blog about baby clothes, or business, then the general trend should be to use keywords that flow with the general topic. Trying to fit in keywords that do not match looks out of place and interrupts the flow of the piece. Those readers who follow a search engine link to that piece will likely glance at it and go back to their search. Such hits used to raise rankings – but they don’t anymore, since Google revised the algorithm used to determine how high a page is listed.
The key to remember is that SEO needs to be done in such a way that the keywords are embedded in the relevant content. The longer someone spends reading the material on the webpage the more weight that a hit to it has. By using quality content for your SEO you can increase your value to searchers, and that is what raises your ranking.
Other forms of search engine placement do not rely on such organic keyword placement. In those cases the listing is paid for and they do not need to have keywords to improve their SEO. When you have a webpage that does wish to purchase ranking, however, careful matching of keywords to your topic is critical for gaining a high search engine rank.
Where many webmasters fail at good SEO is that they take keywords at random and toss them into the mix trying to drive traffic. This can lead to blogs about candy making having keywords about purses, or fashion talking about US Immigration, US Visa methods, or the status of the immigrant in the modern world. While such things are possible to find an relevant angle to write about, most people interested in fashion likely won’t care much about social issues such keywords would raise. Such articles, even when related to the topic of the site or blog likely would not do much to improve search engine rankings and thus are bad SEO practices.
